Named after a harsh tax law imposed on gin distillers in 1736. Under this new law, all gin distillers were required to pay a fee of fifty pounds; the producers were not pleased, and only two of them paid up in six long years! Thames Distillers produces this gin using a recipe that dates back to those times. The botanicals are steeped for 48 hours before being distilled again in a specialised 'John Dore' still using quadruple distilled neutral spirit. Juniper and citrus aromas are fresh and clean. Smooth palate with spicy coriander and angelica, as well as smooth lemon. Finishes dry and sharp, with anise and warming alcohol notes.
