Straffe Hendrik Brugs Tripel Bier 75cl
In 1981 De Halve Maan produced a oneoff ‘straf’ - a strong beer - to celebrate the inauguration of the statue of St. Arnold, the Patron Saint of Brewers. This beer is the off-spring of that celebration brew. Its name, Straffe Hendrik, refers to the taste, which is definitely ‘straf’, but also pays homage to the generations of Henri’s – Hendrik in Dutch – in the Maes family who ran the brewery. Straffe Hendrik, which is a ‘living’ beer with a taste that develops through re-fermentation in the bottle, has inherited the tradition of the authentic Bruges tripel. It is a blonde tripel with a powerful taste enhanced by rich touches of malt, caramel and hops.
