Woodford Distiller is located on "a huge limestone aquifer" which provides both a natural filter and calcium additives. It was first constructed in 1838 and continues to expand to this day. They continue to ferment their bourbon in cypress tanks, which they claim prevents unwanted flavours that may arise in stainless steel. They also keep a stable of racehorses stabled on site!
Woodford Reserve bourbon is "hand-crafted" in "small batches" but has become a very popular and leading premium bourbon. There is no age statement but rather a blend of different aged bourbons.
